Sick for the Cure Posted by Lexx

I hate colds. I hate laryngitis. I hate not being completely on top of my game.

Yeah, this cold is kicking my ass. Of course (TMI warning), because I have to do the sugar free cough drops, I wind up with the laxative effect. I don’t feel like eating, because of being sick, either. So it’s almost like the universe is saying, “Hey, you’re gonna feel like shit, but let’s reward that with some weight loss, shall we?” Seriously, though, I’ve got all the usual stuff to tend to it, but I’m SO glad that I’m off for the next two days, since I genuinely believe that I will be best served by plenty of REST.

Night time strips, Chloraseptic, sugar free cough drops, and DayQuil. Even with my couponing/clearancing/etc. I think that I’ve spent more on OTC medication this week than I have on GROCERIES! However, I just realized that all of that stuff….qualifies under my FSA. Sure, vitamins that I REQUIRE don’t, but the Dayquil and stuff DOES. THAT rules. Now I just have to dig up my receipts and fax ‘em in. Sure, it’s only $10-15, but hey, reimbursement is reimbursement!

Actually, I’m kind of laughing right now, because some things that I buy, I didn’t realize are reimbursable: condoms and other OTC contraceptives, saline solution for my contacts, medical alert jewelry (if I should decide to replace my damn dog tags), DME if prescribed by a doctor (which means if I can get my chiropractor to sign off on it, the shiatsu cushion I was looking at may qualify), first aid stuff like bandages, etc, ANY OTC stuff for colds/flu/yeast infections/whatever, transportation costs (mileage, etc.) although admittedly, I don’t plan on submitting mileage for things that are within 10 miles of where I live. It’s kind of amusing, because I wonder how many people don’t realize the things for which they CAN be reimbursed. Lemmy knows *I* didn’t. Basically, nothing for “general health”, but anything that is to correct a condition. Hah, I can work with that! Plus, I’m stoked to discover that my 2008 HSA works for any treatments up through March 2009.
